PRESIDENT

2nd Year, BSc Economic History

"It can be quite frustrating listening to the empty platitudes of politicians and the endless public discussions about sustainability that just seem go around in circles. Sustainable Futures is all about action and tangible change. This is why I am so proud to be co-president of this incredible society and in charge of the Sustainable Projects Fund this year.

I am half Taiwanese and I grew up in Austria, where I spent most of my life. Apart from sustainability, which I love the most of course, my passions are: everything to do with mountains, very old or very electronic music and big questions. I am committed to making this society as innovative as possible so please do not hesitate to contact me with cool ideas!"
"With so many empty promises regarding the climate crisis, it’s inspiring and empowering to be part of a society that has such a tangible impact. This year, we hope to make this impact even more significant, aligning our efforts with the LSE’s Strategic Plan.

To play an active role in LSE’s 2030 Strategy, be sure to keep an eye out for the exciting projects we have launched and will be launching this year. Feel free to message me with any queries"

"Even as sustainability becomes a key theme in political and economic discourse, it is crucial to remember that there’s still much to be done. It is now the time to innovate, to think creatively and realistically about solutions we can put into practice to improve our communities. The Sustainable Futures society gives LSE students the space and opportunity to do just. As the treasurer, I look forward to working alongside candidates for the Sustainable Projects Fund to ensure their ideas to better our community are put into practice as smoothly as possible.

Equally as important, the Sustainable Futures Society strives to educate the student body at large on sustainability issues so that their future decisions, namely the kind of career they choose to pursue, are aligned with the goal of creating a greener future. We want students to be able to find professional success without having to forgo the causes that truly matter to them.
We want to hear from you, so please feel free to get in touch with any of your ideas and plans!"
"I joined this society because I want to do the most I can in this fight for the environment.
I’ve experienced many different societies at LSE at I think sustainable futures has a real practical impact on sustainability at the university which really inspired me as I believe I can make a true difference!"

"Climate change is one of the most pressing issues our generation is facing.  Yet, many people within positions of power still hardly acknowledge or encourage the need for change. For this reason, I am proud  to be this years Head of Social Media of an society like SFS,  which can have actual positive impacts on LSE's sustainability.   I believe that helping people to understand the key implications of environmental change and highlighting the growing importance of sustainability is the key to raise a sense of responsibility to take action now!"

HEAD OF NETWORKING

"Sustainable Futures society stood out as the most relevant and interactive environmental group at the LSE.

This inspired me to join as the co-head of networking, to communicate with various stakeholders and deliver material change on campus."
"I have long been intrigued by the idea of sustainable development and how we can balance taking care of the planet and making practical changes to our lives. This society is giving us all an opportunity to take guided action regarding the LSE community and beyond, as sustainability continues to be such a hot topic.

I am really looking forward to committing myself to projects and events which raise awareness of both problems and solutions surrounding sustainability. We all have the potential to be more sustainable, and I cannot wait to support the Society’s venture for this to be realised"
