FAQ

What is it?
The Sustainable Projects Fund is £20,000 of funding for projects relating to sustainability on the LSE campus.

Staff and student of LSE are invited to apply for funding for their environmental projects. The Sustainable Futures Society administers the fund, which is aimed both at advancing sustainability at the LSE and at engaging our campus community in sustainability efforts. It places emphasis on:

Carbon management
Biodiversity
Waste reduction
Sustainable Water/Energy use
Education and awareness
Wellbeing

The Sustainable Projects Fund (SPF) was established by the Sustainable Futures Society, with the express permission of the school's  Environmental Leadership Group (ELG). The ELG is chaired by the LSE Director and determines the environmental policy for the university.

Where does the money come from?
The Sustainable Projects Fund is funded with revenue from the Water Bottle Tax, introduced on campus in 2008.

How do I apply?
Head to the "Application Forms" page under the 'Sustainable Projects Fund' tab and email your submission to s.futures@lsesu.org. The DEADLINE for applications is now the 10th of February, although we recommend applying earlier to have access to the information and mentoring sessions we will be running. Applications for the 2022-2023 school year will open on 23rd Jan.  Please write to us at s.futures@lsesu.org if you have any queries on the fund.

How are winners selected?
Applications are judged by a panel which includes members from the Sustainable Futures Society, Sustainability experts and members of the LSE Sustainability team, chaired by the Head of Estates. They consider the scope, impact and cost of the project when looking at applications.

Workshops
We run 'mentoring' sessions throughout the year to help you develop your application ideas from 26th Jan to 31st Jan. Please use the following link to register: https://calendly.com/sustainable-futures/spf-workshop

If you can't make any of the dates, don't hesitate to email us at s.futures@lsesu.org and we can try to organise a private 1 to 1 mentoring session that works for you!
