On Tuesday, 28th November 2023, the Alumni Project Committee of the LSE Sustainable Futures Society organized its first panel discussion for the academic year 2023/24. The Alumni Project is a panel series that invites LSE alumni and special guests working in sustainability to share their insights with students. This panel focused specifically on the topic of sustainability in the food sector. Our notable speakers included (bottom row, from left to right in the picture):
- Swati Mandloi, Senior Partnership Manager at WWF UK
- Chantelle Nicholson, Michelin Green Star Chef
- Honor Eldridge, Food Systems Specialist and Policy Advisor
- Katie McCoshan, Policy and International Engagement Manager at the World Resources Institute
- Li Xuan Tan, Researcher and Consultant for the Regenerative Agriculture Firm, Verde Resources

The discussion revolved around topics such as conscious cooking and purchasing power, waste management, the definition of sustainability, and microplastics, among others. The speakers also emphasized essential skills like curiosity, complex thinking, and the ability to question and rethink systems, which are crucial for entering the professional market in the field of sustainability. A warm thank you to our incredible speakers, the entire Alumni Project Committee, and everyone who joined us for this enriching conversation!
