Well-equipped = safer on the road
London roads can get pretty dangerous at times. Here is some suggested equipment that will help you stay safe on your bike:
- helmet - your head is the most important part of your body, so it is crucial that you protect it well;
- bicycle bell - allows you to notify those in front of you that you are coming;
- reflective armbands/pendants/vests - even if you think you are visible, believe us - that black cab rushing down the Strand won't see you in your dark clothes! Make yourself stand out and shine!
The SFS cycling Club
The LSE Cycling Club aims to improve sustainability by increasing the number of students who cycle to campus by offering free lessons for all LSE students who currently lack the confidence to cycle on London’s busy streets.
Free lessons can currently be booked through Cycle Confident, and we are happy to arrange them for you and your friends. The classes are usually two to four hours long and take place in multiple London Boroughs. Whether you are a complete beginner, intermediate, or advanced cycler who feels unsafe on London roads, Cycle Confident offers various levels according to your experience. Please also feel free to use our SFS Cycling Buddy Program, where we match like-minded cycling enthusiasts and plan bike tours for you. If you are interested, drop us an Instagram dm or email us at s.futures@lsesu.org !
